Sunday 29 October - Stokerland @ St. Patrick's Park

Hi Sketchers!

Stokerland

On Sunday the 29th of October, to celebrate the Bram Stoker Festival, the Dublin Sketchers will sketch at the Stokerland Victorian Funfair in St. Patrick's Park! The event promises to be a colourful, joyous, and suitably spooky affair.

If it’s your first time out and you can’t spot anyone who looks like a sketcher at 2pm, just choose something to draw and get stuck in. Keep your eyes open for anyone carrying a sketchbook and say hello. New people come along almost every week so don't be shy about introducing yourself.  It's a nice friendly gathering and you'll get know us over coffee from 4pm. Don't worry if you're late, most of us usually are! You need to bring your own paper and pens/pencils etc.

We'll share our drawings over coffee/pints at 4.00 in The Jug pub on Francis Street.

Hope to see you there, and happy Halloween!

Sunday 21 October

Hi, sketchers!

This Sunday the 21st of October, Dublin Sketchers will meet at the beautiful Iveagh Gardens on Clonmel St. The forecast is dry, but if it rains the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre is nearby, as well as the beautiful National Concert Hall.

At 4, we'll meet for coffee at Costa Coffee, Richmond's Hill. It's about a 5 minute walk from the gardens.

Hope to see you all there!

Warm artistic regards,

Changes to how to find out about weekly Dublin Sketchers sketch-outs

Dublin Sketchers have been sketching every Sunday in Dublin for nearly 10 years. Everyone helps out to make it happen.

We’re making it easier to announce the Sunday location.

From today, you can find out about the weekly location in 3 ways:

1.      Look at www.dublinsketchers.com
2.      Check out www.facebook.com/dublin.sketchers
3.      Check out https://twitter.com/dublinsketchers

Dublin Sketchers try to post the locations to all these social media. But, remember, we’re human, so don’t be cross if we forget one of these occasionally.

If you would like to receive an email about the weekly location, you will need to subscribe to the website. Once you have subscribed, you will receive an email whenever we post an update. We generally post twice a week, one to let you know where we’re going sketching and one with a photos of our weekly Sunday sketches. We also do the occasional blog post about weekends away or exhibition organized by Dublin Sketchers.

So, what do YOU need to do?

1.      Go to the website (http://dublinsketchers.com/)
2.      On the right-hand side, you will see a box that says “Follow by email”

3.      Type in your email address and click “Submit”
4.      A pop-up window will appear, asking you to type a word, to prove you’re not a robot. Type the text and click on “Complete Subscription Request”

5.      You will then receive an email – this is important – you need to click on the link in the email to confirm that it was you who wanted to subscribe.

That’s it.

Any feedback/trouble, send an email to dublinsketchers@gmail.com

Sketches from Sunday 15th October 2017 - Botanic Gardens, Dublin

One day before ex-Hurricane Ophelia hit Ireland, we were peacefully sketching in the Botanic Gardens, where the Sculpture in Context exhibition added extra interest to the scene. Let's hope that not too many of the beautiful trees were damaged in the storm!
(PS: if we missed any sketches, email a photo to us and we'll do our best to include them!)

Dublin Sketchers - Saturday 15th October

Hi, sketchers!

On Sunday the 15th of October, Dublin Sketchers will sketch at the Sculpture in Context exhibition in the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin. This exhibition is annual, and always boasts incredible artwork all around the Gardens. There are exhibits both indoors and outdoors, so inclement weather shouldn't be a big problem. There is also much to see in the many glasshouses!

At 4pm, we'll meet for coffee/pints at the Addison Lodge, right across from the Botanic Gardens.

The optional challenge for this week is to draw a sculpture from an unusual angle.

Hope to see you there,
Aodh

Sketches from Dublin Sketchers at Custom House

Dublin Sketchers were out at the Custom House in Dublin over the weekend and then went to Mulligan's Pub to enjoy the atmosphere and check out each other's work.

Sunday 8th October - Custom House Visitor Centre

Hi Sketchers!

On Sunday the 8th of October, Dublin Sketchers will meet at the Custom House Visitor Centre. The centre reopened in March 2017 and promises to be an excellent location for sketching, with its beautiful architecture and views. The exhibition outlines the history of the Custom House.

From 4pm, we'll gather in the Wiley Fox pub, near Liberty Hall. A gathering of people with sketchbooks will come out of thin air, almost as if they were told about the location!

This week's optional challenge is to draw some of the other visitors without them noticing, whether they are fellow sketchers or not!

Hope to see you there!
