31st May - Collins Barracks

HI Sketchers.
This week we will go to Collins Barracks at the door of the gallery at 2pm. If you don't see anyone at this time, they may just be late. Say hello to the people with sketchbooks or canvases and paint as they are probably one of us. We will meet in the coffee shop of the museum at 4pm for coffee, to chat and to check out each other's sketchbooks. For those of you that haven't been to the museum before, it's on the luas line- the stop before Heuston if you are coming from town, on the red line that runs from the 3 arena to Saggart.
For other directions or to find out what exhibitions are on here's a link. http://www.museum.ie/en/list/find-us-national-museum-ireland-decorative-arts-history.aspx

Africa Day 24 May

Hello creative people.
This sunday, we will take a visit to Farmleigh. There will be lots to draw as there will be 3 stages as well as a market. There is also an exhibition of work from art and design students from Ballyfermot College in the Cowshed Gallery. If you want a bit somewhere a bit quieter, the sunken garden or the walled gardens might suit you.
We will meet at 2pm at the front of Farmleigh House and then at the 4pm at the Boathouse, which is the cafe on the grounds.
There is a free shuttle bus on the day from the Parkgate entrance of the park to Farmleigh. For other transport options the africa day website has some options
If you are new and don't see anyone at 2, don't worry- some of the regulars sometimes come later but if you see anyone with a sketchbook, it might be one of us so say hello.

National Drawing Day on Saturday16th May

In case anyone is interested in going along, Pearse Museum is celebrating National Drawing Day on Saturday 16 May.

Pearse Museum Facebook link
Are you going to the Pearse Museum for Drawing Day? Drawings completed on site on 16 May can be entered in a competition in which you can win free entry for you and your family into all OPW Heritage Sites for one year! We're going to post a few suggestions for things you can sketch on Saturday on this page throughout the week

The Pearse Museum is very near to Marlay Park in Rathfarnham. It is a great museum with a pleasant garden and a beautiful tree surrounded parkland walk with it's own stream flowing through it. So there is plenty to draw inside or outside whatever the weather is doing.

Directions:
Map link here
The number 16 bus goes from O'Connell St. to Grange Road, St.Enda's every 15 minutes or so.

You can ask the driver to let you out at the Pearse Museum or St.Enda's Park  - the museum is in the park, it's free into the park and museum and there is a coffee shop there aswell.

3rd May- Chester Beatty

Hello sketchers.
This week we will meet at Chester Beatty Library at the back of Dublin castle. We will meet at 4 at the Dubh Linn Tearooms. There are stairs and a small bridge outside Chester Beatty will bring up up to them. If you are new and don't see anyone, people are probably just late but if you see anyone with a sketchbook, say hello- it will probably be one of us.
In the paper, it said the buses might be extending their strike. As well as that, some trains on the northside won't be running due to maintenance works so check out your transport options
