Sunday 2nd May

Well hello, hello bright and shiny sketcher peoples.

I hope this update finds you well? The weather is going to be a very interesting factor in this weekend's sketching. It is proposed that we meet for the SoGo festival in and around George's Street in the city centre. There's fun aplenty to be had and I'm sure myriad colourful characters to draw if only they'll stop swirling for a few minutes. In addition, there'll be plenty of nice indoorsy respites for when the heavens open. Heavens yes, clouds in fact. The meeting time will be 2:00pm and the location, well let's go with Jessica's suggestion of outside Grogan's pub on South William's Street opposite the Powerscourt Town House wherein I believe some manner of storytellin' will be in full swing. (Or perhaps some swinging will be in full tilt, I find it hard to keep up. I really do)

Most everyone will very quickly dissipate and find themself terrifyingly adrift in transient lucidity. To this end, it has been further suggested that we meet in a predefined place for the like of coffee and musings. Let us this time ignore Jessica's fine suggestion of the Bell Cafe as it's miles away from where sketching will be afoot. Ehm, wait, no... no let's do the opposite of that. I've the map upside down. Quite a feat when you consider it's online... Yes, so, Bell Cafe at four. If it's closed, hang on outside to regroup so an alternative can be nominated. Cafe Bell can usually be found on Clarendon Street. It does occasionally wander off for a smoke but always returns thereafter. (Usually wheezing and furtive, staring at its shuffling feet. It's tried to quit I don't know how many times!)

I, for my part, will be around but not sketching :/ Most likely I'll bump into some of you and point hysterically at all the fun and swishy colours I wish I was dragging from hungry pastels.

Sunday 2nd May

Hey there pencil pushers. So here we are again coming toward the end of another inspiring working week!! Hooray! Being a bank holiday weekend means a lot of you may well be out of Dublin or as in my case have overriding commitments. For those of you who will be around over the weekend please put suggestions in the comments to this posty post. Yes, many myriad ideas, that's what should flow.

I'll prolly send out an awl mail tomorrow with whatever seems to be winning. Ok go, comment, post, sail without a map!! Oh, incidentally, let one of us know as soon as possible if you want to go on the sketching trip to Cork in a couple of weeks. (22nd May I think it is now) Also if you want to exhibit work let us know as soon as possible. It's all very exciting!! :D

SketchCrawl Dublin - 15th May

Ok - so seeing as the Dublin Sketchers won't be heading to Cork for the Cork Drink and Draw's Sketchcrawl event, we will have to arrange our own. Ideas for a route are required and please let us know if you plan on coming along. Start time of 12pm, with a view of sketching for 2 hours.

Here is a link to the Official Sketchcrawl Website! I personally won't be able to attend as I am working on May 15th, but I'm sure it will be a great day.

The trip to Cork for the Sketchcrawl has also been changed - as a few of us decided that the weekend of the 15th of May didn't suit a lot of people. So.. what we're planning is to head down the weekend after instead. We will arrange a Sketchcrawl in Dublin for Saturday the 15th and if anyone would still like to partake in the Cork Sketchcrawl they can of course travel down themselves!

So who's intested in the weekend away?!

Dun Laoghaire Sketch

Well, this is my effort - tinkered with it a bit but still hate the foreground, couldn't fix it! Too many straight lines!! Added some imaginary boats & a horizon today.

Hopefully the weather will be nice, dry and sunny and it should be a really intresting day out overall! For anyone who is late arriving or for those going in different directions in Dun Laoghaire on the day (I would love to do some sketching on the pier!), we will all meet up afterwards at the entrance to County Hall.

See you all there!

Farmleigh Sketch

This was my little attempt, with oil pastel and marker.. turns out they don't mix! Was really late arriving (almost 3.30pm) as I totally underestimated the popularity of Phoenix park on a sunny Sunday!! Place was jammers! Hope everybody enjoyed the day out and sorry I missed so many of you. Next week we'll make sure that we have somewhere a bit more organised perhaps and a definite coffee location for afterwards!

Sunday 11th April, at Farmleigh. Sketches by Adam.
